Our Patroness

Project 59 Canada has adopted the Blessed Virgin Mary as its patroness, under the titles of Our Lady of the Cape, Queen of Canada and Queen of the Most Holy Rosary (In French: Notre Dame du Cap, Reine du Canada et Reine du Tres Saint Rosaire).

Novena Prayer to Our Lady of the Cape:

O Holy Virgin Mary, our most merciful Mother and powerful Queen, we thy children humbly prostrate before thee, implore thy grace and help. With confidence we come to thee, O Queen of the Holy Rosary; to thee do we turn our eyes. Bestow on us, we beg thee, this special favor which we ask [insert your prayer intention].

Grant us health of body and purity of soul: increase our faith and love so that we may know thy Divine Son better and serve Him ever faithfully. O tender and merciful Mother, intercede for those who are dear to us. Heal the sick, comfort the dying, and have pity on the faithful departed. Protect our families; guard our country; and keep holy Mother Church safe from all evil. Our Lady of the Cape, may we love thee more and more, so that one day united with thee in Heaven, we may praise thy Son eternally. Amen.

The shrine of Our Lady of the Cape (or Notre Dame du Cap) is located on the St. Lawrence River in the town of Cap-de-la-Madeleine (Quebec), halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. The shrine is one of the most beautiful of all the world's churches dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. The statue's golden crown was a gift of the Franciscans in 1904, and the rosary which she is holding is made from wood from the olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. The statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary was crowned under the authority of Pope Pius X in 1904 and again under the authority of Pope Pius XII: it is the only crowned Madonna in Canada. Pope Blessed John Paul II made a personal pilgrimage to the shrine on September 10, 1984. Much more information about this beautiful shrine and its history of miracles may be found here.

Our Protector

Project 59 Canada has also placed itself under the protection of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of soldiers and the Archdiocese of Toronto, Ontario where Project 59 Canada is located.  St. Michael is also the supreme enemy of Satan and the fallen angels, having vanquished Satan and ejected him from Paradise. Saint Michael is also the official Guardian of the Church and the Blessed Sacrament.  It is common to end the Rosary with the following prayer to St. Michael:

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel:

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen.
